Retired Artisan Baker
Baking, Food and Travel through the eyes of a passionate baker and cook
Meet Kingsley
I became an artisan baker by accident during what was probably a minor mid-life crisis. I started making bread at home in Melbourne while working as an account director for a marketing agency. The love of bread making grew and along with a love of making food for family and friends Chrissie and I decided to return to Perth and open our own food store, The Gourmet Grocer.

A chance meeting with the Benedictine monks of New Norcia led to the founding of New Norcia Bakeres in 1993 which, with our business partner and friend Mark Young, became one of the most recognised and respected artisan bakeries in Australia. We sold the business in 2012 and sadly saw it collapse over the next six years and be placed into liquidation in 2018.

In my retirement I have rekindled my love of making sourdough bread by hand, cooking for family and friends and trying to be a good Dad to my children Steve and Caterina and Grandad to Will and Aidan.
